Curved shower and bath in microcement
Using 30 mm pre-scored boards, the builder created a seamless curved shower screen and a matching curve around the bath. With the boards already waterproof, microcement was applied directly to the surface.
DESIGN WITHOUT THE STRAIGHT LINES
For this bathroom project, the customer wanted the freedom to create a highly customised space incorporating curves, seamless forms and architectural features that would be difficult and labour-intensive to achieve using traditional construction methods.
Rather than combining multiple building materials, the bathroom was constructed extensively using ThermaSheet™ boards, with different board thicknesses and flexible scored boards used to form walls, build out features and create smooth curved elements throughout the space.
ThermaSheet™ provided a lightweight, waterproof and easy-to-work-with construction solution, allowing boards to be cut, shaped and adapted on site to bring the design to life. Using the same board system throughout also created a more consistent substrate, particularly important as the entire bathroom was designed to receive a seamless microcement finish.
The result is a bathroom where the construction method becomes part of the design solution – providing greater creative freedom while simplifying the creation of bespoke curves and continuous surfaces ready for microcement.
